The Ministry of Public Service, Policy Coordination and Administrative Reforms, Baboucar Bouy has announced that his ministry is set to introduce Performance Management System (PMS) in the civil service. This, he said, will serve as the most advanced system, as “it tracks the performance of employees in a manner that is consistent and measurable”.
Minister Bouy made this remark over the weekend at Basse Mansang Kunda in URR, in one of President Adama Barrow’s meeting as part of his ongoing constitutionally-sanctioned tour of the country.
Further in his remarks, the Minister said as part of the reforms, an electronic signing system (clock in, clock out machine) in all ministries has been introduced to monitoring employees’ time of reporting to and leaving work place.
He observed: “If civil servants follow the proper channel of communication; from local authority to the highest level, things will be easy for all of us including the President”.
He advised public servants to stop eye service before the President and do what is expected of them.
The Gambian President Adama Barrow has explainedthat his Government did not regret of creating Ministry of Public Service.
Speaking about the new ministry, President Barrow said his government created the Ministry of Public Service to be responsible for civil servants, in order to ease burden of work on his Government. “The Public Service Ministry brings sanity within civil service”.
