The Vice President of The Gambia, H.E. Mohammed B.S. Jallow, last week received the German Ambassador to The Gambia, H.E. Klaus Botzet, at his office in Banjul.
The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to strengthening bilateral relations, with discussions focusing on key areas such as economic development, project implementation, and migration.
Vice President Jallow expressed his appreciation for Germany’s consistent support to The Gambia and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fostering collaboration for mutual benefit. “The partnership between The Gambia and Germany has always been marked by shared values and a commitment to progress. We look forward to building on this strong foundation,” he said.
Ambassador Botzet, the first German ambassador to be based in The Gambia, emphasised the close ties between the two nations, built on shared principles; such as democracy, the rule of law, and human rights. He also highlighted the importance of ongoing collaborative projects, including initiatives to strengthen community policing.
“We also discussed migration and the vital role Gambians in Germany play in society. With around 16,000 Gambians contributing to German communities and supporting their families back home, this connection is very meaningful,” Ambassador Botzet revealed.
The visit underscores the shared dedication of The Gambia and Germany to advancing diplomatic ties, promoting sustainable development, and deepening their partnership for the benefit of both nations.
