His Excellency President Adama Barrow on Friday, January 19th travelled to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to grace the inauguration of His Excellency Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, following his re-election for a second term in December 2023.
The President and his delegation were received at the airport by the Congolese Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge; Foreign Minister of Congo Christophe Lutundula; and The Gambian Ambassador overseeing the Democratic Republic of Congo Papa Muhammed Musa Njie. In addition, the Gambian Consul in Congo, AnusumanaTunkara, led a large delegation of Gambians in Congo to welcome the President as he arrived in Kinshasa.
Accompanied by Madam Sarjo Mballow-Barrow, President Barrow was among eighteen heads of state and government, and thousands of Congolese at inauguration ceremony held at the 80,000-capacity stadium in Kinshasa on Saturday, January 20th.
Following the official ceremony, President Tshisekedi Tshilombo hosted the dignitaries at a state banquet held at the Presidential Palace and other events during the inauguration.
On the eve of the inauguration, Ambassador-at-Large Kami Kashama Muteba hosted President Barrow and delegation to a dinner attended by the DRC Minister of Justice, Madam Rose Mutombo Kiesse and other Congolese dignitaries in honour of President Barrow.
