SSHFC Introduces new Digital System to Promote Efficiency, Transparency and Reliability

By Awa Sowe

In today’s fast-paced business environment, organizations are continually seeking ways to improve their efficiency, make informed decisions, and maintain a competitive edge. One critical tool that has emerged to support these goals is Management Information Systems (MIS). MIS plays a fundamental role in helping organisations manage their operations, make strategic decisions, and achieve their objectives
Management Information Systems (MIS) is a discipline that sits at the intersection of the business and computing disciplines. MIS is an increasingly important discipline as it supports organizations move from paper-based systems to computerised systems. The digital transformation of business data and processes requires employees with knowledge that spans across business domains, such as accounting, finance, and marketing; and across computing and information technology domains, such as software development, data science, and networking.
Management Information Systems (MIS) do more than collect data; they organise and interpret it, helping business owners make tactical choices aligned with their company’s goals.
As part of its efforts to digitalise its entire system in line with the strategic significance of MIS highlighted above, the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC) recently  introduced a new Management Information System (MIS) for institutions and esteemed customers at an event held at a hotel in Bakau.
The main digitalisation, according to the officials, is to promote transparency and accountability, enhance efficiency, and ensure access to services.
The event brought together representatives from various institutions, including hotels, and SSHFC staff among others. The engagement with stakeholders was initiated to familiarise them with the system’s functionalities.
Mr Malang Saloum, Managing Director, SSHFC, described the system as a significant milestone in SSHFC’s history. He said the system will help promote efficiency, transparency, accountability, and reliability.
“You can sit in your office and register comfortably without any challenges; we deeply value the partnership and collaboration we share with each of you,’’ he remarked.
The SSHFC boss went on: “It is designed not only to help stakeholders better understand features in the system, but also equip them with the necessary skills to navigate and make the most of its capabilities.’’
Mr Saloum views the step as a collective effort to ensure that the SSMIS contributes to improving the work of the SSHFC across the board.
Mr Abdoulie Tambedou commended the Gambia Government for creating an environment that is enabling all to progress.
For his part, Fabuka Njaay, the Director of Corporate Affairs at SSHFC, explained that complaints can be lodged and tracked through the newly introduced system.
“Institutions can engage the corporation, and we will deliver happily as expected,” he assured.
He encouraged all esteemed members to embrace the digitalisation drive.
It is important to note that Strategic planning is crucial for long-term success, and MIS plays a key role in this process. Through sophisticated data analysis and reporting tools, MIS helps organisations identify trends, forecast future scenarios, and evaluate the potential impact of various strategies. With comprehensive insights into market dynamics, customer preferences, and internal performance metrics, organizations can develop and execute strategies that align with their goals and respond proactively to changes in the business environment.
