President Expresses Gratitude for Support on Gambia’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration

Banjul, 20th February 2025: On the occasion of The Gambia’s Diamond Jubilee, celebrated on Tuesday, February 18th H.E. President Adama Barrow expressed heartfelt appreciation to their Excellencies, the Presidents of the Republic of Guinea Bissau and Senegal, Umaro Sissoco Embalo and Bassirou Diomaye Faye, respectively, for attending the Diamond Jubilee Parade in Banjul. 
Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to the Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Republic of Sierra Leone for sending high-level delegations to attend the 60th Independence anniversary celebration. Messages of thanks were also directed to His Highness Khalipha Muhammad Sanusi II, Emir of Kano, and Her Majesty Queen Olori Tema Tope Enitan-Ofunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, both from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as well as their distinguished delegations. Similar sentiments were conveyed to all the distinguished guests who honored his invitation to celebrate The Gambia’s Diamond Jubilee.
Messages of goodwill have been pouring into the State House, congratulating the Gambian people, led by H.E. President Adama Barrow, as the country celebrates its 60th Independence Anniversary.
President Barrow has received messages of goodwill, solidarity, and friendship from various dignitaries, including His Majesty King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; His Highness Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; His Excellency President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China; H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Türkiye; and H.E. Hussein Brahim Taha, the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
The President of the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with the Vice President and Prime Minister of Dubai, H.E. Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the Vice President of the UAE, H.E. Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who also serves as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, sent their warmest greetings, and felicitations to The Gambian leader. 
President Barrow also received a congratulatory message from the President of the State of Palestine and Palestine Liberation Organisation, H.E. Mahmoud Abbas.   
A warm message of best wishes came from His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, expressing his desire to continue working with President Barrow to strengthen the ties between their two nations. 
Additionally, the Government of the Republic of Rwanda extends its heartfelt wishes for peace, prosperity, and good health to the people and government of The Gambia on the occasion of the country’s 60th Independence anniversary celebration. The Rwandan government reaffirms its commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties with The Gambia.
In a separate message from Moscow, the President of the Federal Republic of Russia, Vladimir Putin, sent a friendly message of best wishes for good health and prosperity to President Barrow. 
The President of the Islamic Republic of Algeria, H.E. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, sent a message on behalf of his government and the people of Algeria to the Gambian President, wishing him and the nation happiness and ongoing prosperity.
In the same vein, His Holiness Pope Francis of the Vatican extended prayers for peace and solidarity to President Barrow as the country celebrates sixty years of nationhood.
