Alieu Barry’s first half strike was enough for the Gambia home-based Scorpions to beat Guinea Bissau in the first leg of qualifiers for Algeria 2023.
The Scorpions put up a dominant display throughout the game in the presence of the GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo and Senior Scorpions Head Coach Tom Saintfiet.
The two teams will square off in the deciding leg on Tuesday 26th July 2022 at Stade de Marrakech at 3pm.
Reacting to the match, Scorpions’ coach Tom Saint Senfiet said it was a good game and that Gambia were deserved winners. He said it was an opportunity to see the performance of the best of the local league play at the highest level.
Gambia Football Federation (GFF) President Lamin Kaba Bajo also expressed great impressions over the Gambian performance, although he said the scoreline could have been bigger.
