Education Minister Applauds SBEC Students for Emerging Top in Robotics Competition

The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) Claudiana Cole, has praised the students from SBEC International School who contested and emerged top most among African countries and 2nd in the world in the recently concluded Robotic Hub competition in the United States of America.

The three students who represented SBEC are, Abdoukarim Demba, Abdoulie M. Njie and Malick Alasdair Jammeh. Hassan Sillah, founder and President of Robotics Hub in The Gambia, led the students to the competition.

The delegation recently paid a courtesy call on Minister Cole at her office in Banjul to express their profound thanks and appreciation to her Ministry for the support to SBEC International School and College for the past years. They were led to the Minister’s office by the Heads of SBEC International High School and College, Mamadou Colley and David A. Hafner, and presented an award to the Minister.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Cole expressed to the students and their school heads how excited she was about their brilliant performance during the Robotic competition in USA. “Am proud of you for making MoBSE and the entire Gambians”. She noted that their achievement is something worth of national celebration.

The Head of SBEC International High School, Mamadou Colley, said they were at Minister’s office to dedicate the award to her entire ministry because of the unflinching support they are receiving from MoBSE.
He assured of a continuous fruitful partnership with MoBSE acknowledging that it would have been difficult to come out with the flying colors at the competition without MoBSE’s support.
