The Gambia Beach Volleyball team featuring Amo Jarju and Jahara Koita has lost 2-0 to their Mozambican opponents in the quarter final of the African Beach Volleyball Championship taking place at Agadir, Morocco.
The team had won its first game against Nigeria by 2-0, and beat 2-1 Mozambique in the second game and 2-0 against Togo in the round of 16.
Speaking to Gambia Daily Sport Desk via WhatsApp, the coach for the team, Sanu Abdoulie Secka said he is very contented with the performance of the boys. “They both played to the best of their abilities and they are hoping to do better next time,” he said.
He noted that the Gambia Beach Volleyball team had an incredible journey in the 2022 African Nations Championship. “On behalf of the Executive Committee and the Volleyball family, we say a big thank you to the team for positively showcasing the Gambia Beach Volleyball. The Gambia remains among the top Beach Volleyball Nations in Africa. Bravo to the team and officials.”
The team wishes luck to the Beach Volleyball duo in Sainy Jawo and Mbye Babou Jarra for their campaign in the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
