Banjul, 3rd March 2025: The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (MoCDE) recently celebrated the success of the National Cybersecurity Awareness Week 2024, in a ceremony held at the ministry’s premises.
This year’s awareness week celebration took place in Mansakonko, Lower River Region, focusing on vital themes such as child online protection and digital literacy, particularly targeting students and young women farmers.
During the ceremony, Minister Jabbi highlighted the significance of collaboration in promoting Public-Private Partnerships, which played a crucial role in the event’s success. He expressed his appreciation to the contributors, emphasising that their efforts align with the National Cybersecurity Policy 2022-2026, and Pillar 7 of the Digital Economy Master Plan 2024-2034.
Mr. Ismaila Njie, Vice President of The Gambia Cyber Security Alliance, expressed gratitude to the civil society organisations, as well as the minister’s dedication to cybersecurity awareness.
Prominent civil society organisations; such as the Gambia Cyber Security Alliance, SHOAW GAMBIA, GamCONInfosec Community, and the Centre for the Advancement of Science and Innovations (CASAI), were also recognised for their contributions.
Certificates of appreciation were awarded to several sponsors, including the American Bar Association, through USAID; Africell The Gambia; and Comium Gambia. Recognition was also given to civil society organisations; such as the Gambia Cyber Security Alliance, SHOAW GAMBIA, GamCON Infosec Community, and the Centre for the Advancement of Science and Innovations (CASAI).
The celebration underscored a collective commitment to building a safer digital future, reinforcing the importance of cybersecurity awareness in today’s technology-driven landscape.
The event was honoured by the presence of the Honorable Minister Lamin Jabbi.
