Gambia, Guinea-Bissau Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation on Key Areas

Banjul, 3rd March 2025: The Vice President His Excellency Mohammed BS Jallow, on Thursday, 27 February successfully concluded a two-day official working visit to Guinea-Bissau at the invitation of Prime Minister Rui Duarte Barros.

The visit underscored the strong bilateral ties between The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau, fostering discussions on key areas of cooperation.

In a series of engagements, VP Jallow and his delegation toured the Santy Comercial Group’s cashew nut processing factory in Brá Industrial Zone, where they observed the cashew processing system. They also visited Agro Safim Poultry Production, a major egg production facility.

The delegation proceeded to CIPA facilities at Fishing Port/Alto Ban, where VP Jallow and his delegation toured the food testing laboratory and inspected state-of-the-art equipment used for food safety and quality assurance. The Vice President then proceeded to the Bor Power Plant, where officials provided insights into the OMVG power project, a crucial energy initiative supplying electricity across Guinea-Bissau.

In a significant diplomatic milestone, The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau signed bilateral agreements across multiple sectors, including defence, security, justice, education, trade, investment, tourism, fisheries, agriculture, media, transportation, and culture. These agreements mark a new era of strengthened collaboration between the two nations.

 VP Jallow expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Guinea-Bissau for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation throughout the visit.
