VP: Gov't committed to addressing humanitarian dimension of COVID-19

As 326 tons of essential food commodities in rice, sugar and oil, were being unloaded on Saturday, April 25th at McCarthy Square for onward nationwide distribution, the Gambian Vice President Dr Isatou Touray expressed the Barrow government's commitment to ease the humanitarian challenge posed by the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

 

She explained that there will be about 320 distribution points across the country, coordinated by the local government authorities.

 

She assured that each and every household will benefit based on the number of its members.

 

As head of the ministerial sub-committee for the fight against COVID-19, VP Dr Touray guarantees responsibility and accountability in the distribution exercise, noting that the food relief was a result of taxpayer's money and external assistance.

 

President Adama Barrow was on the ground to inspect the consignment.
