UNFPA boosts COVID-19 fight with motor bike donation

Mr Kunle Adeniyi, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) The Gambia country representative on Wednesday, April 15th presented ten motorbikes to the Ministry of Health, as part of their contribution towards the national efforts to contain and eliminate COVID -19

Speaking on the occasion of the handing over ceremony, Mr Kunle expressed his conviction that the motorbikes will enable the Ministry’s surveillance officers reach all communities. He affirmed UNFPA’s commitment to supporting government “in this trying moment”. He went on: “We are with the government and people of The Gambia up to the end of the pandemic”.

Dr Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, Minister of Health, noted the relevance of the donated motor bikes in enhancing surveillance and contact-tracing by the health officers.

He thanked the donors for the gesture and encouraged them to continue to support the health sector.
