Turkey’s President, business entourage to visit Gambia – New ambassador announces

Having presented his letter of credence to President Adama Barrow, His Excellency Tolga Bermek, ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to The Gambia on Tuesday, January, 21st told Gambian journalists that his President will soon be accompanied by a large group of business executives from Turkey to explore investment opportunities in Gambia.

Having described Gambia-Turkey relation as excellent, Mr Bermek expressed his commitment to ensuring there is increased economic cooperation between the two countries. He talked about increase of their trade activities in The Gambia. “We also plan to bring more Turkish investors in The Gambia. The Turkish Airline recently launched flew directly from Istanbul to Banjul in 2019 and we plan to increase the frequency of flight to The Gambia,” he asserted.

The visit of the Turkish President and entourage, Mr Bermek suggested, would be an opportunity for both countries to expand and explore new areas of bilateral cooperation. About his impression of the country, the ambassador remarked: “Is an opportunity to be posted in this beautiful country and to host [such] a big delegation”.

He promised to do his best to develop the Gambia-Turkey relation in his stint.

The ambassador was in the company of Director of Protocol and the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
