Talibi Vous Gambia Chapter, through its diaspora branch, presented medical equipment to three major health facilities in the country. The beneficiary hospitals are: Kanifing General Hospital, Bundung Maternal and Child Health hospital and Faji kunda Health Centre.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Faji Kunda Health Centre, LT Colonel Seedy Joof, Country Project Director of Talibi Vous explained that Talibi Vous is a non -political and non-tribal organisation that has been existing over the past years. Members, he said, are drawn from Faji kunda, Wellingara and Latrikunda.
He said through the Vous, diaspora members have mobilised essential medical equipment to support some of the Gambian health facilities. Among the items donated, he disclosed, include ECG machines, blood pressure machines, surgical equipment, monitor pulse, disposable gloves, among others.
LT Colonel Joof affirmed that the objective of the Vous is to render humanitarian assistance to Gambians in whatever means they can support. Alhagie Sankareh, Regional Health Director for Western Health Region One, said the essential medical items donated will greatly improve the health delivery system, noting that some of the equipment are lifesaving equipment.
He strongly assured the donors that the Ministry of Health highly valued the donation and that a lot of communities will benefit from it.
Kumba Jaiteh, Deputy Officer-in-Charge at Fajikunda Health Centre, on behalf of the beneficiaries, said the machines presented to the hospital will strengthen the work of the hospital, and therefore thanked the donors for their timely support.
