Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC) has recently presented food items to the company's bedridden pensioners.
The donated items, which include bags of rice, sugar, vegetable cooking oil, onion, potato and tomato paste, were presented to beneficiaries at the Social Security grounds in Banjul. The move is in fulfillment of the institution’s corporate social responsibility.
The Deputy Director of SSHFC, Mr Ansumana Touray described the presentation as timely; saying the holy month of Ramadan is a month of sharing and caring.
He noted that the assistance to their pensioners confronted with ill health will ease the difficulty they are encountering.
Mr Fabuka Njaay, head of Corporate Affairs, SSHFC, said as part of their corporate social responsibility, supporting their pensioners is a top priority.
He expressed delight over the move to increase pensioners’ monthly allowance, resulting into over ninety percent of pensioners having their allowance increased by 65%.
Further on their support to the health sector, Njaay said the Corporation has adopted wards in many hospitals across the country for support and particularly assisted Ndemban clinic in the form of medical equipment.
He assured the Corporation’s continual support to the health sector and to pensioners.
For his part, Alhagie Alieu Faal, pensioners’ representative, hailed the gesture, describing it as timely. He said SSHFC and their association have close working relationship, and that during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic, the Corporation supported them with the amplification of three months allowances.
