SRPEP Embarks on Regional Training on Management, Record Keeping

The Small Ruminant Production Enhancement Project (SRPEP), in collaboration with the Department of Community Development from 15th to 23rd of July 2022 organised a regional training of groups and individuals on management and record keeping.

The SRPEP is a 26 million Dollar project funded by the Government of The Gambia and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

SRPEP and the Department of Community Development have signed a 2-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct a series of training activities supported and funded by the SRPEP project.

The training targets fatteners, breeders, and beneficiaries of the micro-finance facilities in 3 regions (NBR, CRR & URR). Sixty participants were selected in each region totaling to 180.

It aims at promoting and strengthening the group’s capacities to improve governance and management skill and above all set out ground for the sustenance of their project initiatives targeting small ruminant breeders and fatteners across the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony in Kuntaya, North Bank Region, the Project Director SRPEP, Mamud Njie, explained the major interventions of the project and urged the participants to take the training seriously. 

Arabiyatou Sambou, a representative of Community Development underscored the importance of such training. She emphasised that management is key to any meaningful development.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Momodou Jallow, a participant from Mbollet-Ba; and Awa Jobe from Essau, expressed delight at having such an important training, noting that this would enable them improve their management and record-keeping skills and knowledge.
