The Vice President of The Gambia, His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, last week welcomed his Sierra Leonean counterpart, His Excellency Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, to the State House in Banjul. The visit led to fruitful discussions aimed at exploring areas of bilateral cooperation. Their discussion centered on strengthening the long-standing relationship between the two countries, particularly in education and trade. Both leaders expressed their commitment to increasing trade and exploring new opportunities in these sectors. Sierra Leone expressed interest in learning from The Gambia’s best practices in tourism as it looks to expand its tourism industry.
Both nations also underscored the importance of improving sea links to reduce commodity prices and open new markets for locally produced goods. VP Jallow further expressed interest in importing basalt from Sierra Leone, while the Sierra Leonean Vice President extended an invitation for a visit to industries producing commodities for regional markets. The discussions highlighted a shared goal of fostering stronger economic ties and enhancing mutual trade benefits between The Gambia and Sierra Leone.
