Senegalese ECOMIG Contingent Bids Farewell

A contingent of 34 officers of the Senegalese Gendarmerie on The ECOWAS Mission in The Gambia (ECOMIG) on Friday May 13th bade farewell to His Excellency President Adama Barrow, following the end of their terms of services in The Gambia.

 

President Adama Barrow thanked and congratulated the Senegalese contingent for their dedication and commitment to work during their stay in the country.

 

He also commended the ECOWAS and African Union (AU) for supporting The Gambia; and President Macky Sall of Senegal, doubling as the current Chairperson of African Union for the support. “The work of the Senegalese contingent will be part of Gambian history. These gendarmerie contingents will be Gambia’s ambassadors in Senegal. When we travel to Senegal they will be our host and when they also come to The Gambia we will be their host,” he remarked.

 

 

Colonel Sait Njie, State House Commander also thanked the Senegalese contingent for their time in The Gambia and the cordial friendship built with their Gambian counterparts during their tour of duty.

He described them as professionals who always conducted joint operational patrols with them without problems. “During the nationwide tour by the President, these personnel always did a very good work”.

 He called on them to maintain the good relation with their Gambian counterparts upon their return to Senegal.

Captain Amadou Faye of Senegalese Gendarmerie, on behalf of their Commander Major Abdoulaye Camara, who is currently in Dakar, said that they appreciate President Barrow and Gambians for the hospitality accorded them during their stay in the country.

At the end of the farewell ceremony, the President of the Republic and Commander of the Armed Forces presented certificates to the 34 members of the mission.
