The Minister of Tourism and Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Ahmad Ben Akhil Al Khatib has, on behalf of Saudi Government, expressed gratitude for The Gambia’s support to their bid to host 2034 FIFA World Cup.

His Excellency Ahmad Ben Akhil Al Khatib said this when he met with President Adama Barrow last week.

He expressed appreciation for meeting the President and for discussing several potential areas of bilateral cooperation between The Gambia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“Saudi Arabia has funded many important projects in The Gambia and the cooperation between the two countries has existed for a very long time,” he added.

The Tourism minister promised that Saudi Arabia will continue to support infrastructural development projects in The Gambia.

Ahmad Ben Akhil Al Khatib and delegation were accompanied to the State House by Dr. MamadouTangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad.

Earlier this year Saudi Arabia was confirmed as host of football’s 2027 Asian Cup. Saudi Arabia recently announced that it plans to bid to host the 2034 World Cup, the latest step in a campaign to turn the kingdom into a global sports powerhouse.
