Ebrima Faal aka,TEE’s music video for PULL UP, ft. Senegal’s Samba Peuzzi has surpassed one million views on YouTube, making him the latest Gambian musician to hit the milestone.
TEE’s uncountable hit songs have drawn many fans to him and he is now one of the lead musicians in The Gambia.
Gambia Daily Life& Entertainment sat with the young music sensation for a glimpse of his musical journey and career ambition.
TEE spent much of his childhood in Banjul, the country’s capital and the musical heartland, as most of the country’s musical legends; such as the Super Eagles, originate from there.
Growing up TEE was surrounded by music and that has had a major effect and influence on who he is today.
He debuted his music on July 27, 2019, his first single was a song called “DON DADA,” which he co-wrote with prominent Gambian musician HUSSAIN Dada.
Later that year, he released two more songs, “APOLOGIES” and “WHINE.” With 6 million streams across all digital platforms in 2020.
The “PULL UP (feat SAMBA PEUZZI).” reached a million views in three weeks, the first Gambian to achieve that with just one single and pundits believe it has elevated Gambian music to a new level.
He said that Gambian music is now well-known in the world. He was nominated on his first year at Fashion Week Gambia in the category of most stylist artist, and his Instagram followers have increased to nearly 30k, indicating that he has made it to the big leagues.
TEE is unquestionably a special breed in Gambia’s music industry, which boasts a flood of talented young musicians. He mostly sings, but he even raps on occasion. He sings in three main West African languages - Fula, Mandingo, and Wolof - as well as a foreign language, English and French , making him a marketable brand at home and abroad.
TEE has accomplished a lot in the music industry in just over a year and a half, which is unprecedented in the Gambian music industry.
The rising Gambian rap artiste has strongly advised the young folks that in life giving up shouldn’t be an option. “Use the negatives as a motivation to keep pushing into waking up the people and reshaping the norms for the future generations”.
He however noted that the challenge is real especially when it comes getting sponsorship.
