Banjul, 10th April 2025: His Excellency Adama Barrow on Wednesday, April 9th began an inspection tour of road project sites in the North Bank and Lower River regions.
The tour allows the President to have firsthand information on the level of implementation of prominent road projects; such as the Hakalang and Banni-Salikene roads in the North Bank Region, and Kiang West roads in LRR.
Accompanied by the Minister of Transport, Works & Infrastructure, Ebrima Sillah, and other government officials, the President and his entourage’s first points of call were the landmark 84.5km Hakalang Road, and the 17 km Banni-Salikene Road.
Speaking on the project site in NBR, Minister Ebrima Sillah expressed delight at the progress of works on the Hakalang project with paving of asphalt concrete from Buniadu to Kuntaya being 100% complete.
He explained that currently application of bituminous prime coat is ongoing on the Hakalang loop with 10.40 km in Section 3 and 0.5 km in Section 2 respectively. While processing and finishing of base layer is at 13.71 km in Section 3 and 0.70 km in Section 2 respectively, Bituminous surfacing (Double sealing) is up to 0.5km in Section 3.
“Additionally the construction of kerbs 2 985.4m in Section 1 (insitu cast and precast) and construction of concrete side drain up to 1347.5m of trapezoidal drain types T2 and T3 in Section 1 is ongoing”.
The people in these areas came out in their numbers to express their appreciation to the President about the road infrastructural development that is going on in the areas.
President Barrow is accompanied on this tour by cabinet ministers, senior officials of Works Ministry, Managing Director of the National Road Authority, and the governors of the two regions.
