His Excellency President Adama Barrow on Saturday, 14th November laid a foundation stone for the construction of 38-kilometer road from Ngain Sanjal to Banbali Village in Sabach Sanjal District of the North Bank Region. The contractor of the construction of this road is AREZKI company.
Speaking at the weekend event, President Adama noted the importance of good road infrastructure in a country’s development efforts.
He enjoined Gambians to support his development agency while assuring of more developments and thanked the people of Sabach Sanjal for the warm reception.
Bai Lamin Jobe, Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure explained that the road about to be constructed will link and benefit five districts in the North Bank Region.
Hamat Bah Minister, Tourism and Culture minister called for collective responsibility and support to the Barrow administration.
Alkali Conteh, Special Adviser to President Barrow said the President has identified about 1000 roads for construction and that 400 roads have so far been constructed or on the verge being constructed. He thanked minister of Transport for the good work.
Lamin Saidykhan, Governor of North Bank Region expressed appreciation for the construction of the road saying it will facilitate the easy movement of people and their farm produce.
Other speakers included: Honourable Ousman Touray National Assembly member for Sabach Sanjal, Malick Bouy, Chief of Sabach Sanjal; Ali Arezki representative of the Arezki Company, the contractor and Modi Ceesay, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport Works and Infrastructure.
The President and entourage were also in Kaur, Lower Saloum of the Central River Region to lay the foundation stone for the construction of Kaur to Jimbala Road before proceeding to visit the ongoing construction of the Basse new market as well as the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of a modern Basse Car Park just outside of Basse.
