President Barrow Calls on Youth to Learn Skills -As he Visits Ndemban Centre

As part of his ongoing tour of projects and meeting with the people across the country President Adama Barrow visited the new University of Science Engineering and Technology at Ndemba village in Foni, West Coast Region, where he encouraged the youth to seize the opportunity and learn skills.

He expressed delight and satisfaction over the learning equipment and facilities available in the University.

In a meeting in Foni after the University visit, the President told the people  of Foni that they should count themselves lucky to have two big skill schools in Ndemba and Kanilai.

The President earlier visited some other project sites such as the Eba central food processing facility at Brikama Ba, Teneng Fara Rural water supply, Toniataba village Technical Senior Secondary School, Jarra Soma cold storage facility, Kabada road project, Manduar mini- stadium in Lower River Region.

In the various meetings after the projects site visits, President Adama Barrow highlighted his government’s achievements and made some announcements in the coming years.

He called on Gambians to pay tax to enable government to implement infrastructural development for the citizens.

He reiterated his commitment to improving the living conditions of Gambians; especially through infrastructural development and improving agriculture. He announced that government has signed contract with a partner who wants to cultivate about 10,000 hectares of land for rice but he has 6, 000 hectares. The plan, he said is to reduce the importation of rice to 50% and eventually stop the importation of rice  and be rice self-sufficient.
