The newly sworn-in Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment, Seedy Keita, has expressed gratitude to President Adama Barrow for giving him the opportunity to serve his country, and promised to live up to expectation.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday, 12 November 2020 at the State House, where cabinet ministers and other senior government officials assembled to grace the occasion.
Mr Keita replaces Mr Lamin Jobe, who has been earlier redeployed to foreign service. Presiding over the swearing-in ceremony, the President, His Excellency Adama Barrow thanked Mr Keita for accepting his appointment while expressing confidence in his ability. “Honourable Keita’s appointment is prompted by his track record as a professional with a wealth of knowledge, experience and exposure, both nationally and internationally,” he stated.
The President noted that the minister will be heading a critical sector and affirmed confidence that his “appointment will add value to the great work that has been going on to enhance trade and industrial development, as well as creating employment and promoting regional integration for economic growth”.
In his remarks after taking oaths of secrecy and allegiance, Mr Seedy Keita declared that he has accepted the ministerial position wholeheartedly and talked about the need for sacrifice and collective efforts for the common good of the country.
