New State House Mosque Inaugurated

The State House Mosque in Banjul was inaugurated on Friday, 1st April 2022. The refurbishment was funded by the United Arab Emirates Aid.

After the inaugural congregational Friday prayers Excellency President Adama Barrow President Adama Barrow expressed appreciation and gratitude to the sponsors and assured the representative of the UAE Aid that Gambians will continue to work with them. He appealed to the UAE Aid to support the building of many more mosques, and schools payment the salary of Islamic teachers in the Madrassas. This gesture he said will promote the spread of Islam.

Mr. Yusuf Abdoulihim, representative of United Arab Emirate Aid handed over 400 Qur’an to the President.

He said this association has been operating for more than 40 years, promoting and spreading Islam, and building mosques for people around the world. Essa Darbo, President of the Supreme Islamic Council, thanked God for having a leader who has Islam as part of his life.

 The mosque, he said, is meant for prayers but also a place where people can address social problems.
