Banjul, 24th February 2025: The National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) recently launched the Fine Art Exhibition initiative as part of celebrations marking The Gambia’s 60th Independence Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Held at the Centre’s grounds in Banjul, the exhibition brought together a remarkable collection of works by 22 young talented artists, each piece reflecting a unique perspective, a story waiting to be told, as well as captured emotions in colours, textures, and forms.
In his launch statement, the Director General of the National Centre for Arts and Culture, Mr. Hassoum Ceesay, said that the launch is a clear testimony of the government’s effort to support The Gambia’s artists in any way necessary.
He used the opportunity to call on the artists to always work together as brothers and sisters to be able to achieve goals and objectives for the industry.
“Plans are also in the pipeline for the launch of yet another project geared towards supporting the fine art industry,” Ceesay revealed.
Assistant Director of Museums and Monuments, Mamat Sallah, said arts has always been a bridge between the seen and the unseen, the spoken and the unspoken.
“Through this exhibition, we invite you to embark on a journey that challenges perception, inspires imagination, and evokes deep emotions. Whether through bold strokes, delicate details, or thought-provoking themes, each art work in this collection is a testament to the transformative power of artistic expression,” Sallah stated.
