Ansu Njie is a young Gambian musician finding his feet in the country’s increasingly crowded music industry.
In a chat with Gambia Daily Life and Entertainment, Ansu said it was his father who inspired him into music and that he played music for him when he was a little boy.
He said he has been doing music since when he was in school and used to remix his favourite musicians’ songs.
The young musician informed Gambia Daily L&E that he had recently released his new EP at the Brikama Box Bar, and that he is set to collaborate with ST. “We have already discussed the partnership; if it happens it is going to be a big achievement for me, as the people will get to know me more” he said.
The upcoming artist shared his dream of collaborating with Nigeria’s musical sensations Bonna Boy and Wikid in the future.
“Music is all about being patient and having faith. I used to do music with someone but now I do it solo because in The Gambia music doesn’t generate lot of income; they are not paying in Dollars,” he opined.
Despite the challenges that he faced Ansu keeps working hard. He lamented that some times when he put his flyers and banners in the streets or other places people would remove them but that did not make him to give up. He solace in the fact that his parents always support him in his musical career.
“Let’s stop fighting each other as musicians because if we do the music industry will not go forward. As musicians we need to listen to our hearts and do what our heat tells us and stop listening to negative comments outside,” Ansu Njie advised.
