As part of its response to COVID-19, Muslim Hands The Gambia has distributed bags of rice, sugar, onion, milk and sanitary materials to the community of Giboro Kuta in the West Coast Region.
Speaking at the event, the Alkalo of Giboro Kuta, Sheriffo Jatta attested that this is not the first time Muslim Hands has supported his village, that every Ramadan and Tobaski the Islamic organization gives to the needy in his village. He also affirmed that Muslim Hands has transformed the village - dug wells for the community to have safe clean drinking water, and built a mosque for them.
Jatta assured that this support to the community will help the families a great deal.
Sarane Hydara, Chief Executive Officer of Muslim Hands The Gambia said the support of Giboro Kuta is part of their supporting system to the needy communities in The Gambia through their partners in Turkey, England, France and South Africa.
He revealed that the orgaiation aims to provide food package for one hundred people within the community.
Hydara then called on the community to follow the advice and guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the WHO on COVID -19.
Also speaking on the occasion was Lamin Sanneh, Governor of West Coast Region. He thanked Muslim Hands The Gambia for their continual support to Giboro Kuta over the years and the Gambian communities at large. He reported that since 1993 Musliim Hands The Gambia has been supporting the needy in all forms and thereby complementing the government’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19 Chief Bakary Sanyang of Kombo East commended the Islamic organisation and partners for their intervention in his district.
Massey Jarjue, Edirrisa Darbo , Modou M. Jatta , Oumie Jallow and Isatou Ceesay , all a beneficiaries, thanked Muslim Hands for the support, saying the donation of the food package and sanitary materials is timely.
