Lands Minister Lays Foundation Stone for Hospitality Training, One Stop Shop Centre

The Minister of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs, Hon. Sheriff Abba Sanyang recently laid the foundation stone for Hospitality Training Center in Mansakonko and One Stop for Entrepreneurship and Gender Based Violence support services in Farafenni respectively.

The project which is funded by United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security through UNFPA, aims to strengthen capacities of the Local Authorities and create an environment to safeguard the economic and social rights of vulnerable groups whose livelihoods have been negatively impacted by the construction of Senegambia Bridge while activating new opportunities that emerge along the Trans Gambia corridor.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Minister Sheriff Abba Sanyang thanked the UNFPA for complementing the efforts of the government by funding the project. He added that the project has come to safeguard the economic and social rights of people who have been affected by the construction of the Senegambia Bridge.

The primary target beneficiaries are the Local Councils and Communities that are directly affected by the changing economic activity in NBR and LRR.

The Chairman of Mansakonko Area Council, Landing B. Sanneh highlighted that the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs will become the automatic custodian of Centres upon completion.

The event was graced by stakeholders and partners of the projects which includes, UNFPA, ITC, GIEPA, NYC, Women’s Bureau, MOFEA and GALGA as the Chair and Secretariat of the project.
