As the annual Janjanbureh Kankurang Festival  fast approaches, members of the organising committee of this important cultural festival, led by their president, Muhammed L. Saidykhan, recently paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism and Culture, to inform him about the state of preparations for the event, which is slated to take place from 24th to 26th January, 2025.
They also used the opportunity to invite the Minister and staff to formally grace this auspicious event.
The annual festival takes place at Janjanbureh, attracting thousands of people including those in the diaspora.
On receiving the team, Minister Jobe expressed his profound gratitude for the visit, describing it as a step in the right direction.
“As a government, we are here for everybody. We will do our best to ensure that the right measures are in place for the development of this country,” he assured.
The Minister further stated that culture is something that needs to be nurtured by all, emphasising that no society can thrive without it. He therefore reaffirmed that his Ministry values anything that is cultural in nature, and that they are ready to support and promote that agenda.
He went on to underscore the importance of collaboration and teamwork; thus called on the organizers to ensure that the festival takes place yearly without any hitches.
