Her Excellency Harriet King, the newly appointed British High Commissioner to The Gambia, last week paid a courtesy visit to Vice President Mohammed B.S Jallow at his office at State House.
During their introductory meeting, H.E Harriet King and VP Jallow engaged in fruitful discussions, highlighting the enduring and robust relationship between the United Kingdom and The Gambia.
The British High Commissioner shared insights into specific areas of support provided by the UK, including assistance to the justice sector, collaboration with the armed forces, and the growing partnership between the two nations in defence matters. Additionally, they discussed the close ties between the education sectors of both countries, emphasising the significance of UK scholarships for Gambian students, and delving into broader topics such as women empowerment and climate change.
VP Jallow also reflected on his warm reception during the coronation, where he was welcomed by members of the royal family and UK ministers. He assured H.E Harriet King of the full support of the Gambia Government, led by President Adama Barrow, in further strengthening the bond between the two nations.
