Tourism Minister, Indian HC Discuss Issues of Mutual Interest

His Excellency Dinkar Asthana, the Indian High Commissioner to The Gambia based in Dakar, Senegal, has promised to continue strengthening the bilateral relations between Banjul and New Delhi.
High Commissioner Asthana made this affirmation during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Abdoulie Jobe, at his office in Banjul on Tuesday, 3rd September 2024.
During his visit, the High Commissioner and the Minister discussed the possibility of marketing Destination Gambia to Indian tourists.
The duo also talked about how some Indian companies are contributing positively to the socio-economic development of The Gambia, with references made to the construction of the University of The Gambia Faraba Banta Campus, the health, and energy sectors, among others.
The officials further mentioned the issue of capacity building to be offered to young Gambians, especially in the areas of tourism, arts, and culture.
At the end of his visit, High Commissioner Asthana reassured the Honourable Minister of Tourism and Culture of India Government’s commitments to the socio-economic development of The Gambia.
