The Gambia Scorpions have qualified for the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, placed in Group A. They will face former Champions Tunisia in a group with Madagascar and Comoros, with two qualifying from the group.
The qualifiers will be played from September to November 2024, and the Scorpions are eager to secure their spot in the finals in Morocco under the new head coach Jonathan Mckinstry.
The Gambia government, through the Ministry of Youth & Sports, commits to the provision of the necessary resources and logistics necessary for a successful qualification, including the completion of the Independence Stadium ongoing renovation and remodeling.
“We are dedicated to providing our national team with the needed resources, and we are doing everything possible to ensure that the stadium meets the required standards to enable us host our games. We believe in the Scorpions’ potential to give us a third consecutive AFCON and shine at the continental stage.” said Minister Bakary Y. Badjie.
The journey to Morocco will have its challenges, but with their eyes set on victory, the anticipated home ground matches will boost the spirit of the Scorpions as they look forward to making history once again.
