Self-taught Creative Artist Seeks Support to Fulfill Dream of Becoming Architect

Ebrima Kambi, a young talented self-taught creative artist and tailor is seeking support from government and philanthropists to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional architect. Ebrima wants to study architecture if he has the support.
 In this interview the young creative artist shared his inspiration of becoming a creative artist. He said his love for creativity started when he was attending Quranic memorisation school in Farato, when grade 9 students would come to his area to make their ‘practicals’. He would follow and watch them make their drawings.
“I did not know how to draw before. One time I went home for holiday and my younger sister was given an assignment to make a house using plywood. I asked to try make the house for her. I made a small line-house for her but on her way to school the house got destroyed. I later made a mansion for her. When she took it to the school ,she said her teachers were impressed and that they took the house.
Ebrima said one day he thought of building a prototype house and went to his elder sister and asked for money to build a house. He said when his sister gave him the money he bought the equipment that he needed to make the house. The house took him three weeks to build. “When I was done creating the house my elder brother took a picture of the house and posted it on Facebook. When What’s on Gambia posted it lot of people reached out to me” he narrated.
He revealed that S and $ Properties contracted him to design an estate for them. He said at first he did not believe that he could do an estate, but that when he built the estate they were so happy. 
The young artist informed that he is currently building an estate for someone.
Ebrima further informed that he has been creating estates since 2018 till date. He said he used to build small estates for grade 9 students for their practical examination and that his family members always support him in this business.
Aspiring architect however lamented financial challenges as inhibitor to his aspiration. He said he needs money to buy the relevant equipment, revealing that sometimes he goes to the garages and carpentry workshops to search for plywood and other equipment to creative a house or an estate.
