The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Bakary Y. Badjie, on behalf of H.E President Adama Barrow, last week presented diplomatic passports to the national team a day before their AFCON clash with Senegal, which ended 3-0 in favour of the defending champions.
Presenting the diplomatic passport to the players at their base in Yamoussoukro,
Hon Badjie said he was extending message of gratitude from the President and the entire Government to the players as great ambassadors of the country.
The President of The Gambia Football Federation, Mr. Lamin Kaba Bajo highlighted the importance of the diplomatic passports to the players.
He thanked the President through the Minister for approving the issuance of the diplomatic passports to the players. “When the request was made, I was there in Marrakesh when he spoke to the president and it was considered done by the head of state,’’ he said.
Scorpions skipper, Omar Colley gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the players and technical staff.
“On behalf of the players and the entire technical staff, I would like to thank the President of the Republic for fulfilling his promise. We are really grateful to have such a president. He has given a lot of support to us and we cannot thank him enough.
