The newly appointed Minister of Public Service, Administrative Reforms,
Policy Coordination and Delivery (MoPSARPCD) Mr Babucarr O. Joof has said that for a quarter of a century he had dedicated his life to co-operative development in the country through The Gambia Teachers’ Union Co-operative Credit Union (GTUCCU) and so he is determined to bring that success to his new assignment. “I believe that President Barrow followed my work at GTUCCU during his last five years in power or before that”.
He commended The Gambian leader for the trust and confidence he bestowed on him by entrusting him with the responsibility of manning one of the new ministries created.
Mr Joof seized the opportunity to extend gratitude to the teaching fraternity for embracing his appointment, and “the entire leadership of The Gambia Teacher’s Union (GTU) for the support.

“The first man to call me was my former boss, Mr. Omar J. Ndure, followed by teachers, my GTUCCU staff, while other people were also on social media embracing my new appointment through messages,” minister Joof informed.
He went on: “I thought as the news of my appointment broke in town, the teaching fraternity would say no, ‘we can’t lose you’; instead they embraced me and they also saw the reason why President Barrow appointed me as new minister.”
The new minister admitted that it will be a bit of a difficult moment for him leaving GTUCCU after being with the system for 26 years.
