President Adama Barrow has vowed to continue to work for the development of the entire country saying that he is the first opposition candidate to win elections in Niani as they always support the sitting government. He asserted that he will make sure electricity, water and road projects are implemented in Niani.
He made the promises during meetings in Ndowen village in Niani and in Karantaba Suruwa-kunda in Sami, Central River Region.
He called on Gambians to unite and develop the country noting that they should avoid people who are bent on mere talks without any concrete action.
Tourism and Culture Minister Hamat Bah warned security officers to desist from demanding payment for permit from Senegalese nationals. He said Senegalese and Gambians are the same and should maintain unity. He urged the people to support President Barrow so that they can benefit from more development projects. He also thanked them for their warm welcome.
Minister of Lands and Regional Governments Musa Drammeh announced that seven villages in Niani will get water and call them to maintain peace and support the government.
Minister of Women and Children Affairs Fatou Kinteh explained that government has set up a women enterprise fund to empower women. She urged them to form kafos to benefit from the fund and eventually establish a women’s bank.
In response to a request for a doctor at Kuntaur health center, she said the matter was discussed with the health minister and it will be addressed soon. She said the welfare of women and children and her ministry will not relent in efforts to advance the cause of women and children.
She announced that funds will be provided to set up a women’s cooperative to facilitate vegetable marketing.
Alhagi Jobe claimed that no development project was brought to them for the past 30 years while Karabulie Ceesay, a youth leader condemned the three years jotna movement adding that Gambians voted for five years. He called on government to provide skill centers in the area so that youth can acquire skills.
Pa Jallow highlighted that they have been suffering for a long time because their rice fields and farms were destroyed. He appealed for farming tools, fertilizer and seeds while assuring support for the president.
In the Karatanba Suruwa-kunda meeting, the president and ministers promised to provide water, electricity, roads, farming tools and fertilizer.
Several villagers who spoke appeal for developmental projects and promise to support President Barrow.
