President Adama Barrow on Saturday, September 30th inaugurated the newly completed 48km Kaur-Jimbala road in the North Bank Region; and Kerr Auldi- Chamen road in Nianija, Central River Region. The colorful ceremony was held at Chamen in CRR.
In his speech, the President said the roads will encourage trade in the area and improve the living condition of the people. He commended the Ministry of Works, NRA and the contractor for the job well done, and assured of government’s commitment to having in place a good road network across the country.
Mr. Alieu Nyass, representative of the contractor - CSE Company - expressed appreciation for the support of government and people of The Gambia.
Honourable Seedy Njie, Deputy Speaker of National Assembly and Deputy Spokesperson of the National People’s Party recalled the road access difficulty the people of Nianija and Saloum encountered in the past and commended the President for the project.
Other speakers were Aji Kaddy Jobe, women representative; Honourable Amadou Camara, National Assembly member for Nianija; Ousman Bah, Governor CRR, Nianija Chief, and Alkalo of Chamen.
President Barrow is currently inaugurating rural roads projects, as well as newly constructed political bureaus of his party –NPP. He will proceed for his annual holiday in his home village of Mankamang Kunda in URR.
