Preparation for Banjul New Year Cultural Festival Gathers Momentum

The Banjul New Year Cultural Festival Committee under the guidance of the National Centre for Arts and Culture on Wednesday, 4th September, 2024 held its third meeting at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in Banjul.
Chairing the meeting, Abdoulie Jobe, Minister of Tourism and Culture, commended the different groups who attended the meeting for their commitment to having a successful event, come December.
He encouraged collective efforts to mobilise the necessary funds for the event, pointing out that it is paramount for its successful hosting.
However, the Minister assured them of the Government’s commitment to preserving the culture and arts in the country.
The event, he said, is not only meant to entertain the public but also, is a way of showcasing the talents of the young ones and making them involved in meaningful activities.
At the end of each year, the city of Banjul is normally in a festive mood  from December right to the New Year, as cultural jamborees, artistic performances, and entertainment take place at the city’s iconic arch. The events are graced by people from all walks of life
