NCAC Holds Training on Gambia’s Copyright Laws in NBR

In a bid to raise awareness on copyright laws in The Gambia, officials of the copyright office under the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC), held at the Governor’s Office, a day’s capacity building for stakeholders in North Bank Region (NBR).

Mr. Dembo Samateh, deputy governor of the region, expressed deep sense of honour and appreciation to the copyright team for engaging the people of the region on such an important issue.

He urged the participants to use the training and share experiences with those who were not present at the training and expressed hope that similar exercise would be held in other regions of the country.

Mr Sanna Jawara, head of the copyright office, having outlined the objectives of the training, and the functions of the copyright office, noted that the need for stakeholders to engage his office for clarification related to copyrights in The Gambia.

The participants came from various copyright and related rights industries such as fashion, kanyelling groups, performing artists, media, and security outfits including the Police, Immigration, SIS, and The Gambia Tourism Board.
