MRC Holland Foundation, a non-profit making body that has been complementing government’s efforts over the years in providing accessible and quality education through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has recently inaugurated newly built classrooms for schools in Regions One and Two.

The schools  that benefitted from  the philanthropic gesture were Sinchu Soree and Sinchu Baliya Lower Basic Schools in Region Two; and Latrikunda Sabiji Upper and Senior Secondary School in Region One.

Speaking at the opening ceremony in Latrikunda Sabiji, Mr Yohan, of MRC Holland, expressed satisfaction at the quality of the work and thanked the contractors for the job well done. He stated that education is key in one’s life and that they take pride in assisting  the sector. He promised the Foundation’s will to continue supporting more schools.

In an interview, the Principal of Latrikunda Sabiji Upper and Senior Secondary School, Mr. Saidou Jallow thanked MRC Holland Foundation for the support and especially expressed  appreciation for the construction of 24 classrooms, six offices and  22 toilets in his school by the foundation.

“We were seriously congested before the advent of this building. We nearly ran into crisis during the COVID era because we had to downsize our classes and we did not have enough rooms to place all our students. It was a very difficult moment for us but they came to our aid,’’ Jallow said.

The headmistress of Sinchu Baliya LBS, Ya Mam Khan, hailed the MRC Holland Foundation for coming to their aid by constructing 20 new classrooms and renovated 12 classrooms.

“Initially, the students could not fit in the classes and some were coming in the morning, others in the afternoon, whilst some were alternating; which means attending classes in three days. Thank God that since the completion of this building, we have enough and spacious classrooms for conducive teaching and learning,’’ she remarked.

The alkalo of Sinchu Sorree Village also commended the MRC Holland Foundation for the magnificent gesture to his community.
