Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe Presents her Awards to President Barrow

The Mayor of Banjul, Rohey Malick Lowe, on Saturday, 25th November presented her award to His Excellency President Adama Barrow at his home village in Mankaman Kunda in the Upper River Region.

The Mayor was awarded the prestigious Dr. Benjamin Barber Global Cities Award 2023 by the Global Parliament of Mayors. She had received another award from the UN habitat.

Speaking to the journalists after presenting her award to the President, Madam Lowe said the Award meant a lot to her and that she has dedicated the award to the women and youth of The Gambia.

She said she presented the Award to President Barrow because he had congratulated her in his capacity as President of the Republic, and leader of National People’s Party. “As you can see he was very happy to receive the award. This is the highest award that a mayor can receive and indeed it means a lot to me, ” she added.

The Mayor went on: “I thank the people of The Gambia, Banjul in particular because I do not think that I could have received this award without them. I also thank the leadership of my party because I came in through their flag; without them I could not have been a mayor as well. I thank the President for coming out boldly to congratulate even though we are not in the same party. That is why I also came to say thank you to him and to present the award to him”.
