The Project Manager of the OIC-Bertil Harding Highway project has revealed that the third overpass under construction at Kairaba Avenue Traffic Lights is expected to be completed by the end of April this year.
Mr Alagie Darboe made this revelation in an interview with Gambia Daily.
“Construction work on the third overpass is progressing steadily and by the end of April this year, work on the site is expected to be ready,” he affirmed.
The Gambia is preparing to host the next OIC Summit, which is scheduled to take place in May 2024. “We are doing everything possible to ensure that works are concluded on time before the summit,” he assured.
He explained that embankments on both sides of the overpass are going smoothly.
Mr. Darboe also used the opportunity to call on drivers to respect and follow the traffic rules, especially around the Sukuta/Jabang roundabout where traffic sometimes becomes a nightmare for many motorists.
It is important to note that, a total of three overpasses are part of the OIC road construction project. The first one was constructed at the Coastal Road Junction near the market, while the second one was constructed at the famous Turn-Table near the Petroleum House, Brusubi. These two overpasses are completed and are now open for traffic.
