The Pharmaceutical Society of The Gambia last week held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), at the Paradise Suites Hotel in Kololi.
The event brought together pharmacists from both within and outside of the country. It served as a platform for robust discussions, insightful deliberations, and strategic planning for the advancement of the pharmaceutical sector in the country.
Speaking at the event, Babanding Sabally, the outgoing Public Relations Officer of the Society, said that the Pharmaceutical Society of The Gambia is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethical practices, and excellence within the field of pharmacy.
Mr. Jimmy Olu Coker, the outgoing president, also underscored the importance of innovation, collaboration, and continuous education in the ever-evolving landscape of pharmaceutical society.
Mr.Momodou Cham, one of the founding fathers of the Society said: “This annual gathering was aimed to promote the interests of pharmacists, encourage high standards of professional ethics and practice, and advance the science and practice of pharmacy in the country.The gathering provides a platform for pharmacists to network, share knowledge and experience, and advocate for the profession by working to improve access to essential medicines and healthcare services for all citizens,” he said.
The AGM concluded on a high note with a unanimous commitment from all attendees to work collaboratively towards the shared goals outlined during the meeting. Members expressed optimism about the future of the pharmaceutical sector in The Gambia and reiterated their dedication to serving the community with diligence and compassion.
At the end of the event, Mrs. Markieu Janneh Kaira was elected president of the Society, while the outgoing secretary general, Mr. Essa Camara; and the outgoing treasurer, Mr Essa Marrenah, gave statements on the activities and financial status of the society.
