The Vice President Mohammed B.S Jallow has recently received in audience the Wisconsin State representative, who is also a Gambian by origin, and members of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
Mr Samba Baldeh is a Gambian –American politician.
The Vice President thanked Mr Baldeh and his team for choosing The Gambia, noting that government would welcome cooperation with them.
After meeting the Vice President, the State Rep remarked: “I have been in The Gambia for the past two days now and we have been in constant engagement with government officials, particularly officials from The Gambia investment [agencies].
He went on: “Wisconsin’s economy is incredibly diverse”. He said the team is particularly interested in food and beverage, agriculture, manufacturing, clean energy and water technology opportunities.
Mr Baldeh expressed optimism that this cooperation can bring both Gambia and state of Wisconsin together as business partners, with investment opportunities in each other’s countries.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Trade, Mr. Baboucarr Ismailia Joof, said this is a great opportunity for GIEPA and the country at large, noting that government is working on building the right trade infrastructure. “We are working on instruments, but we are also stretching our arms out to partners and potential partners, expanding our network so that we open opportunities for the entire economy,” Mr Joof said.
