Gambia, Senegal Env’t Ministers Agree to Reinforce Cooperation in Environmental Sustainability

The Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources, Hon. Rohey John-Manjang recently received her Senegalese counterpart, Prof. Daouda Ngom, Minister of Environment and Ecological Transition, ahead of the UNEF, the Pan-African Agency of the Great Green Wall, and the African Union Green Great Wall Coordination joint Steering Committee meeting.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between The Gambia and Senegal in environmental sustainability and resilience efforts. Key areas discussed were: cross-border protection management of the forest resources; developing sustainable and resilient strategies for the sister countries; engaging local communities in restoration efforts; leveraging innovative solutions to combat desertification.
Both ministers emphasised the critical importance of the collaboration in combating desertification, restoring degraded landscapes, and promoting sustainable livelihoods for communities in The Gambia and Senegal.
