Tuesday 23rd.January 2024 is the date set for The Gambia International Open Golf Competition, to be held at the Sir Dawda Jawara Golf Course in Fajara.
The tournament will be organised by the Gambia Golf Association (GGA) in partnership with Fajara Golf Club and suppoted by Royal Enterprise Limited and Crop Score. Golfers from different countries are expected to take part.
In a press briefing held last week, Mr Ebrima Jawara said the competition is open to everyone, and that it is a moment to showcase talents and to network with other professional players from around the world.
“Prizes for professional golfers are:1st GMD68, 000, 2nd GMD30, 000, 3rd GMD20, 000, 4th GMD10, 000, 5th GMD6, 000, 6th GMD4, 000, 7th GMD3, 000 and 8th -10th places will receive GMD2,000 each”.
In the amateurs 9 hole round - first, second, third, fourth and fifth in both the men’s category 1 and 2, will all receive prizes. In the ladies category - first, second and third places will all receive prizes.
Special prizes for amateurs 9 hole round will include longest putt, nearest to the pin and booby prize.

The GGA expects the participation of over 15 professionals and at least 35 amateurs from The Gambia, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Sweden.
