EU, ILO Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening Collaboration with Gambia

Banjul, 10th April 2025: In a significant step towards deepening international relations, the European Union (EU) Ambassador and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Regional Director, based in Dakar, on Monday, 7 April paid a courtesy visit to the Vice President of The Gambia, His Excellency Mohammed BS Jallow at State House, in Banjul.
EU Ambassador, Ms. Imma Roca I Cortes, who is recently accredited to The Gambia, reiterated the EU’s unwavering commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties with the Gambian government. 
She expressed a desire to enhance cooperation, not only in advancing national development but also in fostering economic growth through sustainable partnerships.
Meanwhile, ILO Regional Director, Ms. Samira Daoud, emphasised ILO’s role in supporting The Gambia’s mission to create decent work opportunities for its citizens. As a newly appointed representative, she highlighted the importance of aligning efforts with government priorities to advance a decent employment agenda that benefits workers, employers, and the broader economy.
Both diplomats took the opportunity to express their deep appreciation for Vice President Jallow’s warm reception and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with The Gambia’s leadership in addressing key national challenges, including employment creation, social protection, and sustainable development.
The Gambia, poised for growth, is set to benefit from these strengthened partnerships as the EU and ILO continue their support in building a prosperous and inclusive future for all Gambians.
