This year’s Global Media Congress (GMC), which is the second since its maiden edition in 2022, was special to the Department of Information Services (DoIS) as it had its own stand to showcase the work and services of The Gambia News Agency (GAMNA) at the Exhibition Centre.
GAMNA is a newswire service of the Gambia Government under the Department of Information Services (DOIS).
The News Agency is in cordial partnership with Emirates News Agency (WAM) following the two agencies’ signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). It was through this partnership that WAM offered the complimentary stand to GAMNA.
Awa Sowe, Senior Information Officer at DoIS was the manager of the stand at the 2023 GMC exhibition.
Reacting to the opportunity and sharing her experience, Ms Sowe said it was a three-day event of networking, meeting, and sharing experiences with professionals, journalists, and tech enthusiasts for partnership and collaboration in the media industry.
“Having a stand at the Global Media Congress for the first time is a milestone for us. This exhibition stand is not just about showcasing our products and services, it is about introducing ourselves to the world, learning from the industry’s best practices, and contributing our part to the exciting future of media,’’ she stated.
Ms Sowe extended gratitude to the Emirates News Agency for their support and expressed GAMNA’s desire for more collaboration.
