Defence Minister Receives Delegation from Turkish Defence Company

The Minister of Defence, Hon. Sering Modou Njie on 22nd June 2022 received in audience staff of ASFAT, a Turkiye state-owned defence company which deals with the production of military equipment and the maintenance of shipyard and aircraft.

On welcoming the visiting Turkish team, the Permanent Secretary at the Defence ministry, Mrs. Rohie Bittaye Darboe, noted the significance of the mutual cooperation between the two countries, and expressed hope that both institutions will combine efforts towards achieving mutual benefits.

Speaking at the event, the head of the delegation, Mr. Mesut Zafer SARI expressed sincere appreciation for the warm reception accorded them.

He gave a comprehensive presentation underlining the functions, significance and objectives of the ASFAT Company. ASFAT, he informed, is a leading Turkish defence industry operating directly under the Ministry of Defence of Turkiye, aimed at improving operational excellence with an inclusive partner approach.

Mr. Mesut Zafer SARI went on to underscore areas of cooperation with the Ministry which include designing and building overhaul facilities for ships and aircrafts and the production of military equipment.

The Minister thanked the delegation for the visit and for brilliant presentation. He reiterated on the significance of the unwavering support and mutual cooperation between the two countries particularly in the area of defence.

He concluded by expressing his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the government of Turkiye and assured of the Ministry’s support and collaborations at all times.
